This is just a list of some fun games to play in the gym. Feel free to mention some favorites of your own!
1) Shark Attack!! - This seems to be the kids favorite. One or more people are selected to be the sharks and they start in the center of the gym. The "fish", who are the rest of the kids line up against the wall. The sharks call a color and anyone wearing that color has to run. If a person is caught then they become a shark too. The sharks need to call everyone from one side of the wall before they can turn around and call people who ran to the other wall. The last person not tagged gets to be the shark for the next round.
2) Redlight, Greenlight - One person stands on the far side of the gym. Everyone else needs to line up against he far wall. The single person says greenlight and the people can start walking. When the person says redlight then need to stop. The first person who reaches the single person gets to take over the spot.
3) Spud - Everyone is assigned a number. Then someone is picked to start as the "thrower". The "thrower" says a number and throws it in the air. The person who is that number has to go and get the ball while everyone else scatters. When the person whose number was called gets the ball they yell "spud!" and everyone has to stop. Then the person with the ball can take three giant steps and try to get one of the other people with the ball. If a person gets hit then they become the thrower. If the person who had to yell spud misses then they become the thrower
4) circle ball - Not sure what better name to use but the kids form a circle. Then a ball is tossed in order around the circle. If the ball makes it around for one cycle without getting dropped then everyone takes one step back and the ball goes around again. The _object_ is to try to get the circle as large as possible.
5) Whisperball - Everyone sits in a circle close to their neighbor. One starts off by whispering something into the person next to them. The person next to them then whispers what they thought they heard to the person next to them and it goes back to the person who originally started it. The result is usually quite different from the original message
